Gorongosa National Park

Discover Gorongosa National Park in Mozambique – perhaps Africa’s greatest wildlife restoration story. In 2008, the Government of Mozambique and the Carr Foundation formed the «Gorongosa Project», a 20-year Public-Private Partnership for the joint management of the park and for human development in the communities near the Park. In 2018, the Government of Mozambique signed an extension of the management agreement of Gorongosa National Park for another 25 years. Gorongosa National Park is a preserved area in the Great Rift Valley of central Mozambique. Its forests and savannahs are home to lions, hippos and elephants. Lake Urema and its surrounding wetlands and rivers attract scores of water birds. The multitiered Murombodzi Falls spills over rocks on the slopes of Mount Gorongosa. The Quirimbas Archipelago is a group of islands located in the Indian Ocean, off the northern coast of Mozambique and stretches for approximately 400 km along the Mozambican coast. The archipelago consists of about 32 main islands, as well as numerous smaller islets and coral reefs and are all known for their pristine beaches, turquoise waters, and abundant marine life, making them a popular destination for tourists seeking relaxation, diving, snorkelling, and fishing. The Quirimbas Archipelago is home to a diverse ecosystem, including mangroves, seagrass beds, and coral reefs. Tourism infrastructure in the Quirimbas Archipelago is relatively limited compared to more developed tourist destinations. Access to the islands is primarily by boat or small aircraft from Pemba, the main gateway to the archipelago.
